The expression "The shoemaker's children go barefoot" comes to mind. Morvil has been operating an award-winning, full-service advertising and marketing firm since the 80's, but our own website has been, well, metaphorically a bit bare. We've also very recently updated our logo, but alas, we still have no sign on our building.
It's true that we've been putting our time and creative energy into accomplishing these and many other projects for our clients; indisputably our first priority. The work we do for those who trust us with their image fuels our passion and helps to pay the bills, so we certainly aren't complaining. But with the launch of this site, we're feeling a bit like kids with new Keds—ready to run faster, jump higher, and leap small buildings in a single bound.
Now about that sign out front…
I was reading something Sterling Handley had written that we should be taking these "Bad Times" and using the them to our advantage. How do you do that with the lemons you've been handed?
"Now is the time for personal projects. Development of multiple revenue streams. Diversifying, to put it into proper fiscal terminology. I am working on all of those personal projects that have been kept at bay in light of a flourishing business. I assume that this economy will rebound, but you never know. It is best to hedge your bets."
It might be trite but, make yourself lemonade. Keep motivated and keep creating.
A common question we get is: "So how are things going for you all?" Things are going well! We continue to stay busy. And when we're not mostly busy, we're at least occupied.
